Executive Director

Scott Mohon has returned to Victoria after 24 years and is in the middle of his second season as Executive Director for Theatre Victoria, the resident company of the Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts located in downtown Victoria His return to Victoria brings a wealth of theatrical, theme park, and corporate experience to the theatre and the arts communities in south Texas.

A graduate of Victoria High School, Scott received a BFA in Theatre from The University of Texas at Austin. Following graduation from UT, he travelled west and worked on his MFA in Musical Theatre at the University of California, Irvine where he had the honor of working under the direction of Chet Walker, international director and choreographer and co-creator of the Tony award winning musical Fosse.

While in California, Scott began his long-time working relationship with Tony-nominated director/choreographer, Jeff Calhoun on Broadway at the Bowl at the Hollywood Bowl starring Placido Domingo, and How Do You Keep the Music Playing? starring Mimi Hines with music direction by John McDaniel.

After working a few years in California and Florida as a stage manager and for Universal Studios, he flew east to NYC and Broadway, where he stage managed and understudied the role of Vince Fontaine in the Tommy Tune production of GREASE!, reuniting his collaboration with Calhoun and McDaniel.

He has been a theatre professional on Broadway, for theme parks, and in regional, dinner, and community theatres through out the United States, having held the positions of Production Stage Manager for Harlequin Dinner Theatre in Costa Mesa, CA; Entertainment Manager for Universal Studios Orlando; Director of Production and Operations for Hey City Theater in Minneapolis, MN, Portland, OR, Cleveland, OH and Salt Lake City, UT; Managing Director for Bloomington Civic Theatre in Bloomington, MN; General Manager for Granbury Opera House in Granbury, TX and Vice President, Operations for Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville, AR.

Scott recently directed this season's Rounding Third and Neil Simon's Proposals starring Tony-nominated actress Kimberly Scott on the heels of the hit summer musical Seussical. He directed the last two season’s finales, the female version of The Odd Couple and Our Lady of the Tortilla. He is currently in rehearsals directing the long running off-Broadway hit musical revue I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.
